Canoeing along the Zambezi River past hippos, taking game drives among
one of Africa’s densest concentrations of leopards and casting for
fighting tiger fish are just a sampling of the once-in-a-lifetime
adventures you’ll discover on this flying safari to Zambia’s untamed
wilderness.
Discover a truly unspoiled wildlife paradise. The cast of wildlife
characters, from wild tiger fish to mango-hunting elephants, will inspire you in unusual ways!
Day 1: Arrive South Luangwa National Park, Zambia
From Lusaka Airport, fly off to Mfuwe, where you’ll be met and driven to your lodge in the South Luangwa National Park. Meet your safari guide for an orientation game drive into the park - a truly unspoiled wilderness area and one of the finest wildlife sanctuaries in Africa. (D)
Pick up some early gifts and shop the Ele Africa collection of jewelry inspired by the elephants that walk through the lodge every November in search of wild mango.
After breakfast, depart for your
intimate bushcamp, located in the remote parts of the South Luangwa
National Park. You’ll be struck by the great numbers of buffalo,
giraffe, zebra, impala and kudu roaming the plains and elephants, hippo
and crocodile along the river banks. In the evening, return to your camp
to recharge and get in sync with the peaceful surroundings. (BLD)
Hop aboard your safari vehicle with
your ranger and spend your days scouting the oxbow lagoons bursting with
hippos, crowned cranes and scurrying baboons. Leopards, lions and even
wild dogs are among the predators you can spot as you continue your
exploration of this wild area. (BLD)
The South Luangwa National Park is the place to experience the original walking safari, a “heart thumping” way to get close to nature and feel her pulse. An impressive 5,000 square miles, it is one of Africa’s last true wildernesses, and probably southern Africa’s best kept secret. (BLD)
Day 5: South Luangwa National Park / Lower Zambezi National Park
Take flight to your next camp in the heart of the Lower Zambezi National Park. This award-winning property is known for its expert guides and diverse range of activities, including game drives and walks, canoeing, boating and catch-and-release angling. Spend the afternoon getting acquainted with your new surroundings and viewing wildlife from the deck overlooking the river. Watch elephants wandering through the grounds and impalas and kudus coming to drink. (BLD)
Day 6: Lower Zambezi National Park
Gather your binoculars and meet your expert guide to experience a day of wildlife viewing while paddling a canoe or boating along the Zambezi River. In addition to bird watching, observe herds of elephants along the riverbanks and island-hopping buffalo and waterbuck. (BLD)
Day 7: Lower Zambezi National Park
Listen for the cry of the fish eagle as you continue your exploration of the pristine wilderness. Take a walking safari with your guiding team to quietly observe the wildlife and build your gallery of photos. After a delicious dinner, immerse yourself in the starlit skies and the peace of the bush. (BLD)
Rise early to fly back to Lusaka for your international flight or onward arrangements. (B)
