When To Go

Mid-December through April is considered the dry season in Costa Rica. It is also the most popular time to visit. January is a great month to visit, after the rains have ended but while the rainforests are still lush, and the beaches are warm and sunny.

Since the country is spread across two different coasts and seas, there are varying climates, with even a mini dry season along the southern Caribbean from September through mid-November. Throughout the year, temperatures generally remain in the balmy mid-70s F through the mid-80s F.

Experience Costa Rica

Costa Rica is made up of seven distinct provinces: San Jose, Alajuela, Heredia, Cartago, Guanacaste, Limon and Puntarenas.

Nearly a quarter of Costa Rica is protected jungle. This biodiverse landscape, with more than 500,000 species, offers refuge to around ten percent of the world’s wildlife.

Costa Rica has fittingly served as a hub for ecotourism since the 1990s. Its tallest volcano is Irazu, which reaches a glorious 11,259 feet; Chirripo Mountain is even higher at 12,500 feet.

Arenal Volcano Region: Famous for its resting volcano, this adventure-filled site features hiking trails, a hot springs area, a lake for watersports and more.

Liberia & Guanacaste: Liberia serves as the gateway to Guanacaste’s beaches and nature destinations, including famous national parks and a nearby waterfall.

San Jose & Pacific Coast: The vibrant capital city is packed with attractions that will entice every type of traveler while the Pacific Coast offers beaches and outdoor exploration.
